Benefits & Programs Toolkit

Benefits and assistance programs can be lifesavers for people with disabilities and their families. But, these systems can be complicated and the applications long and confusing. That is why THINK+change has created the Benefits & Programs Toolkit to help you break down the steps, stay organized, and save time!

This toolkit contains information about programs that provide assistance with:

  • Income (SSI/SSDI)
  • Healthcare (Medicaid)
  • Daily Living (HCBS Waivers)
  • Employment (DVR)
  • Financial Assets (ABLE and Special Needs Trusts)
  • Food (SNAP and WIC)
  • Housing (HUD and Section 8)
  • Utilities (LEAP and Discounts)

Each section breaks down:

  • The documents and information you need to gather

Finally, you can use the toolkit to establish a digital or physical system for storing and organizing your documents and information. Many programs require the same documents to be submitted multiple times during both the initial application and renewal processes. Having everything in one centralized location will save you time and make it easier to access and refer back to when needed.
